Garage Door Opener
While many homeowners choose to stick with a garage door that opens manually, the electric garage door opener is a much more convenient option. They allow you to open and close your door with the simple push of a button. Although they all do the same thing, there are a few different types available to the consumer.
The chain-driven garage door opener is probably the most popular variety on the market. Chains tend to be more durable than rubber belts, and are inexpensive to manufacture and install. Most of these openers use either a ½ HP or ¾ HP motor to open and close the door.
A belt-driven garage door opener is often used when there is living space above the garage. These openers tend to run extremely quiet, meaning no one above the opener will be disturbed. Finally, screw-drive openers are most often used in locations that have to deal with extremely cold weather.
